A healthy, normal spine runs straight down the back. Scoliosis causes the spine to curve to the side.

It’s the abnormal curvature of the spine, usually in an S (double scoliosis) or C (single curve) shape. There is a strong genetic connection; families with a history of this ailment should have their spines checked on a regular basis for symptoms of the disease. This condition typically develops during childhood or the adolescent years and is more common in females.

The other factors that affect the progression of scoliosis are non-structural and structural. We will check what the root cause of your condition is at our clinic, so we can start a treatment plan that is tailor-made for you.

Effective treatment starts with a correct diagnosis. Many chiropractors are not equipped to diagnose symptoms related to this condition correctly. This results in missing the underlying causes along with the issues related to scoliosis. Scoliosis has varying degrees. Some experience minimal symptoms, while others suffer from respiratory deficiencies, chronic pain, and decreased physical capacities.

At Heart of Texas Chiropractic, accurate diagnosis is the key for us to start a treatment plan that will deliver the right results.

Dr. Goodman is a chiropractor for scoliosis and has been treating scoliosis and back pain issues since 1991. She provides expert and careful inspection of your spine, checking for any misalignments or abnormalities. If you have a history of scoliosis in the family, it is essential to monitor your spine; any changes to its curvature should be addressed accordingly. Dr. Goodman may also utilize structural chiropractic techniques to adjust the spine and keep its correct alignment.

A Chance to Improve

Dr. Goodman offers chiropractic adjustments to get rid of spine misalignments and joint restrictions. These techniques are done in an effort to lessen inflammation and improve the functionality of the nervous system and the mobility of the affected joints - offering your body a chance to improve and manage the symptoms of scoliosis.

There is a lot more that needs to go with repositioning of the spine. At our clinic, we make sure that your muscles are relaxed and that you are comfortable so that you can respond positively to the treatment.

Exercises, massage, and electrical muscle stimulation can help in cases of functional scoliosis. These treatments will keep the muscles around the spine healthy. They will also support the spine as opposed to tugging on the vertebrae and starting alignment problems.
